Champion Picklum falls short in Bells Beach decider
Bryan built a 14.83 score to beat world champion Molly Picklum and take the yellow jersey from her.
On Saturday, Hawaii's Gabriela Bryan won the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach in Australia, defeating reigning world champion Molly Picklum to take the early 2026 tour rankings lead.
Professional surfing's longest-running event, Bells, is now in its 63rd year and famed for its powerful Southern Ocean swells that make it the sport's most coveted competition.
Bryan built a score of 14.83 from her two best waves, while Picklum tallied 8.33, extending the Hawaiian's head-to-head winning record over the Australian to 5-1.
Brazilian veteran Miguel Pupo claimed his first Bells trophy in the men's final, defeating 2025 world champion Yago Dora 15.60 to 13.90 as the world tour marked its 50th year.
As the new rankings leader, Bryan will wear the yellow jersey at the next tour stop at Margaret River, where she claimed victory last year.
