Chad Gilbert, New Found Glory Founder and Guitarist, Has Died
- On Sunday, September 20, 2026, New Found Glory founding guitarist Chad Everett Gilbert died peacefully in his sleep. Bandmates and his wife, Lisa Cimorelli, confirmed the passing in a joint statement.
- Gilbert battled cancer since 2021, later diagnosed with aggressive stage 4 adrenocortical carcinoma. He underwent multiple surgeries, including an emergency procedure in 2026 to remove three brain tumours.
- Co-Founding the band in 1997, Gilbert helped shape the pop-punk genre over three decades. He played on more than a dozen albums, including the 2026 release "Listen Up!".
- Bandmates Jordan Pundik, Ian Grushka, Cyrus Bolooki, and Dan wrote they were "devastated and shocked." They credited his "guitar playing, songwriting, humor, and relentless drive" for defining the group.
- Gilbert is survived by Lisa Cimorelli, his daughter, Lily, his mother, Jackie, and his brother, Brian. He was remembered as a legendary musician whose "favourite accomplishment was being a husband and father.
