Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Denied Permission by Centre to Visit USA
The Ministry of External Affairs approved only the U.K. leg of Revanth Reddy’s tour, forcing him to drop planned meetings with U.S. universities.
On Friday, the Telangana Chief Minister's Office announced that the Centre denied Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy permission for his planned visit to the United States, forcing cancellation of the official TelanganaRising delegation's trip.
Following the delegation's arrival in London, the Ministry of External Affairs approved the Chief Minister's UK tour but denied clearance for the US leg, citing "clearance from political angle is denied."
Reddy aimed to transform Hyderabad into a global knowledge hub by securing partnerships with Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Northeastern University, and Virginia Tech, aligned with the National Education Policy.
Despite the denial, Reddy instructed accompanying officials to proceed with the planned US program to finalize memoranda of understanding, while he returns to Hyderabad from London on August 23.
The Chief Minister asserted that the denial would not affect the State's efforts under the TelanganaRising initiative, emphasizing commitment to making Hyderabad a global knowledge hub for the country's youth.
