Kumaraswamy seeks Rs 3,705 crore central aid for K’taka drought

Kumaraswamy on Tuesday sought Rs 3,705.30 crore in Central assistance for Karnataka, citing severe drought conditions across the state and crop losses estimated at Rs 18,748.23 crore. A central team will visit Karnataka from October 3 to 6 to study the drought-hit areas. The team, led by Agriculture Department Joint Secretary Ajit Kumar Sahu, will hold meetings with the Chief Minister and collect data. The state has already declared 177 talukas as drought-hit and has requested for assistance of ₹3,705 crore.
