CD Projekt Red Shared A Witcher 3 Remastered Comparison and Some Fans Think It Looks Worse Than the Original
Fans criticized the side-by-side clip for weaker fog, reflections and color, even as CD Projekt Red said the remaster adds ray tracing and free upgrades.

- Most fans criticized the remaster for its handling of reflections and color compared to the original. One user sarcastically asked, "Did you put the before and after text on the wrong square because the left looks way better?"
- Projekt Red attributed differences to using ray tracing in the remaster. Twitter user LeafusMaximus critiqued the new assets, saying "the new drowner just look wetter, the old ones actually look scaly/mucky."
- PC players who prefer the original visual representation can roll back to an earlier version of the build. Console players remain unclear on whether this rollback option will be available.
- The remaster release precedes Songs of the Past, an entirely new expansion set to arrive next year. This upcoming content will be similar in size to Blood and Wine, offering substantial new gameplay.
