- On Friday, CBS Sports announced it has mutually parted ways with NFL game analyst Tony Romo, ending his nine-year tenure with the network following his indefinite leave of absence.
- The network placed Romo on leave after his July 23 arrest in Milwaukee on suspicion of operating while intoxicated, hours after competing in the Wisconsin Amateur Championship.
- Former NFL quarterback JJ Watt, who filled in for Romo this season, will remain in the top booth alongside play-by-play announcer Jim Nantz and sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson.
- Romo pleaded no contest to OWI charges in September, receiving a $784 fine and six-month license revocation; roughly $72 million remained on his 10-year, $180 million contract.
- In a statement, Romo said he is "proud" of his CBS tenure and plans to take time focusing on his health and family before pursuing his next opportunity.
