'Prevent cancer before it starts': new WHO study maps risks
A new WHO study suggests more than 7 million cases of cancer in 2022 were preventable. Nearly 40% of all the cases that year were caused by modifiable risk factors — behavioral and environmental factors we can change.
A large study with data from 185 countries shows that cancer is not an inevitable fate, a significant part of the disease could be prevented
Tobacco, alcohol, obesity, but also exposure to air pollution or infections... In a global study, the International Cancer Research Centre lists 30 factors that promote the development of the disease. However, for lack of data, environmental or food determinants are not taken into account.
