Caltrans begins its adaptive traffic signal pilot program on Highway 68.

As part of a five-year pilot project, Caltrans District 5 has installed nine adaptive traffic signals along Highway 68 between Salinas and Monterey. Adaptive traffic signals use artificial intelligence paired with sensors to adjust to traffic patterns in real time.
