The Iowa legend also picked her alma mater to upset Ohio State and made several other game predictions.
On Saturday, Indiana Fever point guard Caitlin Clark returned to Iowa City for ESPN's "College GameDay," where fans directed playful boos after she picked the Iowa State Cyclones to beat the West Virginia Mountaineers.
The reaction stemmed from the deep-seated Iowa-Iowa State rivalry, which runs intense among fans regardless of Clark's legendary status. The Pentacrest event marked the show's first visit to Iowa City in two decades, amplifying the moment's significance.
Clark restored goodwill by predicting her alma mater, the Iowa Hawkeyes, would upset the Ohio State Buckeyes. She told the crowd, "I'll make you happy at the end," before selecting the Big Ten matchup winner.
The Cyclones validated her objective assessment, securing a 45-42 victory over the Mountaineers. This appearance came days after her season ended Thursday with a 94-83 loss to the Las Vegas Aces in the WNBA Playoffs.
Despite her prediction, the Ohio State Buckeyes demolished the Iowa Hawkeyes 31-14 at Kinnick Stadium. Clark joined analysts Rece Davis, Desmond Howard, Pat McAfee, Kirk Herbstreit, and Nick Saban on the desk for the broadcast.
