A large majority of the Tweede Kamer, the lower house of Dutch parliament, is urging culture minister Rianne Letscher to take decisive action, including potentially revoking the broadcasting license of far-right broadcaster Ongehoord Nederland (ON!) after the company praised Hitler in one of its panel shows, RTL Nieuws reports.
Following last week's Hitler controversy, Minister Rianne Letschert (D66) must intervene against Ongehoord Nederland and put an end to the broadcaster's place within the public broadcasting system. A broad parliamentary majority believes this, parties confirmed to De Telegraaf following reporting by RTL.
Media Minister Rianne Letschert is exploring legal avenues to intervene regarding Ongehoord Nederland (ON!). She believes it is too early to say whether she will do so and how. However, before the Council of Ministers, she openly speculated on the possibility of revoking the broadcaster's license. ON! came under fire again this week due to a segment in which, according to critics, Hitler was condoned.
