Coming up Rosas as Swans Hold Off Demons at SCG
Malcolm Rosas became only the fifth Sydney player in 10 years to kick seven goals as the Swans improved to 6-1.
On Saturday, Sydney recruit Malcolm Rosas kicked a career-best seven goals, leading the Swans to a 131–114 victory over the Melbourne Demons at the SCG.
Rosas moved to Sydney from the Gold Coast Suns last year in a trade involving picks 51 and 69, providing the Swans with a dynamic forward option overlooked amid fanfare over Charlie Curnow.
In front of 40,673 fans, former Demons ruck Brodie Grundy marked his 250th game with a match-high 44 hit-outs, helping the Swans improve to 6-1.
Melbourne dropped to sixth after the loss and a hamstring injury to leading goalkicker Brody Mihocek, though coach Steven King praised the team's fighting spirit.
Swans coach Dean Cox emphasized collective scoring, saying "That's my number one focus, isn't to rely on one person," despite Rosas' beneficial impact on the forward line.
