Browns to sign former Panthers WR Jimmy Horn Jr. to practice squad
The Browns are adding a former sixth-round pick who caught 11 passes last season and gives them depth at receiver and in the return game.
- The Cleveland Browns signed wide receiver Jimmy Horn Jr. to their practice squad on Thursday, September 17, 2026. The 24-year-old became available after the Carolina Panthers released him earlier this week.
- Following a difficult performance against the Chicago Bears, the Panthers released Horn on Tuesday. The team lost 59-37, and the receiver faced scrutiny after muffing a punt when the game was level 21-21.
- Shedeur Sanders, Horn's former University of Colorado quarterback, now plays for Cleveland. The two connected on 95 catches for 1,008 yards and seven touchdowns during their two seasons with the Buffaloes.
- Seeking return help with running back Dylan Sampson out at least four weeks, Cleveland added Horn to address depth concerns. Horn brings 4.4 speed to bolster the team's special teams unit.
- Week 3 brings a reunion, as the Browns face their former teammate's ex-team, the Panthers. The matchup may provide an opportunity for Horn to prove his value on the active roster.
