All Officers with Ohio Police Department on Leave Pending Investigation
All five officers and the police chief were placed on leave to protect investigation integrity while Brown County Sheriff's Department assumes law enforcement duties.
On Thursday, Sardinia Mayor Dusty Puckett announced the entire Sardinia Police Department, including five officers and the police chief, has been placed on administrative leave effective immediately pending an ongoing investigation.
Following allegations against Police Chief Brian Perry, the village recently navigated resignations of former Mayor Ashlie Webster and administrator Amy Mason amid internal disagreements.
Operational responsibility for the village shifts to the Brown County Sheriff's Department, which will manage emergency response, routine patrol, and public safety coordination during the interim arrangement.
To maintain public trust and transparency, the move follows an emergency meeting held three weeks ago where city leaders discussed department policies and conduct.
Officials have not provided specific details regarding the investigation's nature, though the interim arrangement remains in effect until the investigation concludes or a permanent resolution is established.
