New UK long-range strike weapons could be sent to Ukraine within a year

The trial showed the system’s core technologies and supported plans for lower-cost British-made long-range weapons for Ukraine, officials said.

  • Three British-designed long-range strike systems from MBDA, MGI Engineering, and Rotron Aerospace will be tested in the UK and Ukraine and could be delivered to the front line within a year.
  • The UK is developing low-cost, long-range weapons for Ukraine that do not rely on US components or data, ensuring operational sovereignty.
  • The new UK weapons will be armed with at least a 225-kilogram warhead and cannot destroy bunkers but can still cause significant damage.
  • Each weapon is required to cost around £400,000 , excluding the warhead, according to UK government requirements.
