- Paramount Pictures announced Oscar winner Brie Larson will star as Katy Silver and executive produce the feature adaptation of Rebecca Serle's novel One Italian Summer, with filmmaker Harry Bradbeer directing.
- Set against the Amalfi Coast, the story follows Katy, who travels to Positano alone after a devastating loss and encounters her mother, Carol, alive and only 30 years old.
- Larson previously starred in and executive produced Apple TV+'s Lessons in Chemistry, continuing her pattern of working behind the camera. She appeared in Captain Marvel, which grossed over $1.1 billion, and Avengers: Endgame, earning $2.79B.
- Paramount executive David Ellison has promised to release at least 30 theatrical films annually if a merger closes. He described One Italian Summer as a "reasonably scaled, star-driven adult movie" that helps achieve that goal.
- The film arrives May 12, 2028, coinciding with Mother's Day weekend. Warner Bros and New Line's Final Destination 7 is the only other title scheduled for that weekend.
