Breaking news... Cemil Tugay, the Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, elected with the votes of CHP (Republican People's Party) voters, is joining the AKP (Justice and Development Party). Tugay was seen sitting next to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the opening meeting of the new legislative year. When President Erdoğan said in his speech, "Izmir is different today, even more enthusiastic," Cemil Tugay was seen smiling in response.
Former Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer, currently under arrest, sent a message to the people of Izmir following Cemil Tugay's joining the AKP. Soyer stated, "The story of Izmir doesn't end like this, hang in there, beautiful Izmir."
