Bracing for blackouts? How Americans prepare for power outages
Two-Thirds of American homeowners experienced a power outage in 2026, and nearly three-quarters of those affected worried another outage would occur within a year.
Talker Research conducted the study for Sunrun and found that many homeowners expected more outages but acknowledged being unprepared.
Although homeowners rated their preparedness at 6.6 out of 10, 41% had none of the emergency power resources surveyed.
Severe storms were viewed as the biggest threat to power reliability, while 47% said a backup power source would provide the most confidence.
