Boy, 2, Seriously Injured as Car Crashes Into Nursery Playground
Police said a 63-year-old woman was arrested after the crash, which left a two-year-old boy seriously injured and two other children hurt.
On Monday, June 15, 2026, a car drove through a fence into the playground at Partou Sunny Days Nursery in Whitby, Ellesmere Port, prompting a response from Cheshire Police and North West Ambulance Service at approximately 9:54 AM.
A 63-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, as Steve Davenport, owner of a nearby Barbers on Vale Road, said witnesses believed the driver was reversing in the car park.
The crash resulted in serious injuries to a two-year-old boy, who was hospitalized with "what are thought to be serious injuries," while two other children sustained "minor" injuries.
Witnesses reported seeing an air ambulance, two ambulances, a fire engine, and four police vehicles at the scene, where Vale Road remains cordoned off as Police are "conducting a number of enquiries."
Partou Sunny Days Nursery confirmed they were "dealing with an incident" following the collision, as authorities work to fully establish the circumstances of the crash that occurred while children played in the playground area.
