In Saint-Laurent-de-Chamousset, Rhone, a case of contagious nodular dermatosis was detected in a dairy farm. The 160 cows were euthanized this Saturday, September 20, 2025, in the morning, by the veterinary services of the prefecture.
To stop the disease as soon as possible remains the objective of the authorities since the discovery of a first home in the Lyon mountains on Thursday. After the holding of crisis cells and the establishment of restricted zones, the agricultural world enters into the tough this Saturday with the slaughter of a first herd in Saint-Laurent-de-Chamousset.
The Ministry of Agriculture announced this Friday, 19 September, to extend the restricted zone and calls for "increased surveillance" in this department so far unharmed.
Since the first appearance in France at the end of June of this viral disease which is not transmissible to humans, 47 farms have been affected.
Discovered on Thursday in a dairy cow farm in Saint-Laurent-de-Chamousset, near Lyon, this new home is located outside the regulated area, which so far extended on the Ain, Isère, Savoie and Haute-Savoie.
