Boston Scientific Warns Cyberattack Will Hurt 2026 Sales and Profit
The medical device maker said the disruption has already affected shipments and operations, and it may miss third-quarter and full-year guidance.
On Tuesday, Boston Scientific announced that a cyberattack will have a "material impact" on its 2026 financial results, making the company unlikely to meet third-quarter and full-year earnings guidance.
Boston Scientific disclosed the update in an SEC filing two weeks after unauthorized network activity detected on August 25 knocked systems offline, disrupting global manufacturing and order shipments.
Distribution networks have been substantially restored and manufacturing has resumed at most global sites, though some business applications remain affected and full recovery timing remains unknown.
Shares of Boston Scientific fell 4.5% in premarket trading following the disclosure; the company plans to provide updated financial outlook on October 28.
While the investigation continues, Boston Scientific has identified no evidence of ongoing unauthorized access and does not expect the incident to materially affect long-term financial condition.
