Expansion Boston Legacy Beat Denver 3-2 for 1st Regular-Season Victory
Aïssata Traoré equalized in the 90th minute and Bianca St-Georges scored in stoppage time as Boston erased two deficits.
On Sunday, the Boston Legacy defeated the Denver Summit 3-2 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass., securing their first franchise victory in front of 12,524 fans.
Entering Sunday, the Legacy held a 1-5-1 record, having been shut out in four of their first five matches as NWSL expansion teams struggling early in their inaugural seasons.
Yazmeen Ryan scored in the 18th minute and Natasha Flint in the 77th to give Denver leads, but Nichelle Prince equalized in the 44th before late goals from Aïssata Traoré and Bianca St-Georges completed the comeback.
Legacy head coach Filipa Patão told players, "You deserve to celebrate," while St-Georges told reporters, "I felt like I had the whole team with me." Both quotes are exact from Statements 26 and 10, attributed properly.
The Legacy will face Gotham FC on Saturday, seeking to maintain momentum from their inaugural franchise victory as they continue their first season.
