Missing Cat Found Dead After Severed Tail Found in Mailbox
Police are seeking CCTV and DNA evidence after a reward fund raised £1,570 for information in Max’s death.
On Friday, September 25, the body of eight-year-old tabby cat Max was discovered in woodland near Hull by a dog walker, less than a week after his severed tail appeared in owners' letterbox.
Owners Louise, 45, and Lisa, 47, reported Max missing on September 14 from their Appleton Road garden and searched the woodland multiple times over the following fortnight before finding remains.
Humberside Police launched an investigation into what owners believe was a 'human attack,' appealing for information via non-emergency number 101 quoting reference 26*132718, while the tail underwent forensic testing.
More than 100 people attended a candle-lit vigil for Max on Sunday, while a JustGiving appeal to fund a reward for information has raised £1,570 since its launch on Tuesday.
Living in terror, Louise and Lisa have scaled back their upcoming wedding plans and sent their other cat to stay with friends for safety, seeking justice for the pet they described as 'daft as a brush.
