Body Camera Video Offers a Rare Look Inside an Immigration Raid at a NY Factory
The lawsuit says officers lacked arrest warrants and questioned U.S. citizens before releasing only five of 57 people charged.
The Associated Press analyzed body camera footage from a September 2025 immigration raid at the Nutrition Bar Confectioners plant in Cato, New York, showing federal authorities making 57 arrests during the operation.
A lawsuit filed Thursday accuses authorities of overstepping search warrants during the raid, where officers detained about 60 people and deported some employees, including two plaintiffs in the case.
Footage reveals officers forced entry after 9 a.m. and searched the facility, questioning employees. Attorney Grossman noted one employee had charges dismissed after arguing the raid violated her Fourth Amendment rights.
ICE remains under scrutiny following a $75 billion infusion from Congress, with the agency's expanding street presence linked to three fatal shootings this year.
Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin said last week the agency is "on track" with enforcement goals. Last year, a massive raid at a Georgia Hyundai plant resulted in nearly 500 arrests.
