From Lille to Marseille via Lyon and Bordeaux, the demonstrators have been criticising police methods with one voice since the beginning of the movement on 17 September. The Master student denounces the way the high school students were treated: "We insult them, we strike them, we laugh at them when they are on the ground with tear gas in the eyes, there is no restraint, no attempt by the law enforcement forces to de-escalate the situation".
On Tuesday, presented as a day of national mobilization, high school processions have been planned in about 30 cities. Courses are totally or partially suspended in 891 schools out of 3.700, according to the Ministry of National Education.
