A New StarCraft? Diablo 4 Switch 2? All the BlizzCon 2026 Announcements From the Opening Ceremony as They Happen
Blizzard is using the comeback event to outline new plans for Diablo IV, Overwatch and Hearthstone after Microsoft’s cuts this year.
On Saturday, Blizzard Entertainment returned to the Anaheim Convention Center for BlizzCon 2026, marking the company's first in-person fan event since 2023.
The opening ceremony runs one hour and 15 minutes against a backdrop of wide-ranging personnel cuts announced by owner Microsoft earlier this year.
Blizzard announced an animated Diablo series for Netflix and confirmed World of Warcraft's 12th expansion, The Last Titan, arriving in 2027. Hearthstone gains the Monk class in 2027 and launches Classic Plus on November 4.
Overwatch adds stealth support hero Doctrine, whose trial begins today, while Warcraft 3 Reforged receives a 30-hour campaign. Dan Hay, former head of Far Cry at Ubisoft, introduced a new open-world StarCraft shooter slated for 2030.
Diablo IV officially launches on Nintendo's Switch console on September 15, alongside the game's new season, while the Amazon class arrives in the first half of 2027.
