- Bitcoin rose 1% to just above $86,000 on Monday, October 5, 2026, after a weak U.S. jobs report pushed traders to drop bets on an October Federal Reserve rate hike.
- Just 29,000 jobs were added by U.S. employers in September, trailing the 12-month average of 45,000 and falling short of the 84,000 expected by economists.
- The cryptocurrency traded near $84,500 through Saturday before a late-Sunday rally carried it back above $86,000, recovering to around $86,250 early Monday.
- CME's FedWatch tool put the odds of a quarter-point increase at 17%, down from close to 36% a week earlier, reflecting trader sentiment shift.
- "Acceptance above $87,200 remains necessary to confirm the next leg," QCP Capital said, as traders still expect one more move this year with December hike odds above 75%.
