Best coffee cities in America: See who's number 1
The ranking weighed coffee-shop supply, prices and home equipment, and Orlando led with more than $154 in annual household coffee spending.
WalletHub's latest analysis ranked Orlando as America's top coffee city, evaluating 100 U.S. cities across 12 indicators of coffee friendliness.
Researchers compared the 100 most populated cities using criteria including cafe density, average coffee prices, and the share of residents owning home coffee-making equipment.
Orlando offers the highest number of coffee and tea shops per capita providing free Wi-Fi, attracting remote workers and students, while also featuring the highest number of donut shops per capita.
"In the cities that are craziest about coffee, the average household may spend as much as $327 per year," WalletHub analyst Chip Lupo said, adding that 33% of the population uses home coffee machines.
Portland and Miami round out the top 3, while Hawaii holds the most expensive coffee at $4.89—approximately 59% higher than the national average; 66% of Americans drink coffee daily.
