- On Monday, Australian illustrator and author Terry Denton died at 76, surrounded by his family. His literary agency Curtis Brown and publisher Pan Macmillan confirmed the news.
- Denton was best known for illustrating the 13-Storey Treehouse series co-written with author Andy Griffiths and his Gasp! series. Based in Victoria, the pair collaborated over three decades.
- Griffiths described their collaboration as "an honour and a pure delight." Pan Macmillan Australia deputy publishing director Claire Craig called Denton an "icon" known for his prolific work with multiple authors.
- His children Max, Imogen, and Eve expressed gratitude for the joy he brought to millions of children worldwide. They noted his stories will continue comforting his grandchildren Georgia, Lucy, Charlie, Alfie, and Felix.
- Denton won the 1986 Children's Book Council of Australia Picture Book of the Year Award for Felix and Alexander. He also designed puppets for the television series Lift Off, including the iconic EC doll.
