Belgium Winger Diego Moreira Joins AC Milan in Latest Big-Money Sale by Strasbourg
Strasbourg’s sales this week reached about €100 million as the club moved to cut costs after a €13 million UEFA fine.
On Wednesday, Belgian winger Diego Moreira signed a five-year contract with AC Milan, departing French Ligue 1 club Strasbourg. The 22-year-old joins the Serie A side on a deal running until June 30, 2031.
Strasbourg is offloading players following a 13 million euro fine imposed by UEFA in June for Financial Fair Play breaches. UEFA told the BlueCo-owned club to 'significantly decrease' player costs after missing European competition.
Moreira previously played for Benfica, Chelsea, and Lyon before joining Strasbourg for 8.5 million euros. The winger appeared as a substitute in Belgium's 3-2 win over Senegal during the 2026 FIFA World Cup round of 32.
Moreira's departure brings Strasbourg's sales this week to about 100 million euros , marking the club's record transaction. Milan will integrate the winger as it prepares for the upcoming Europa League campaign under coach Ruben Amorim.
Milan finished fifth in Serie A last season, qualifying only for the Europa League this campaign. The arrival of Moreira signals the club's ambitions under Amorim to compete in European competition while rebuilding domestically.
The RC Strasbourg announced the start of the Belgian international Diego Moreira, on Wednesday, sold for 50 million euros to AC Milan. Racing continues to degrease its staff to bail out the caisses.
