Berkshire Hathaway Shareholders Eager to Hear From New Leader Greg Abel
Buffett will attend but not speak as Greg Abel takes over the annual meeting tradition and shareholders mark more than 60 years in Omaha.
On Saturday, Berkshire Hathaway shareholders will gather in Omaha, Nebraska, for the annual meeting, a tradition spanning over 60 years. For the first time, they will meet without Warren Buffett serving as CEO.
Though Buffett, 95, remains chairman and the company's largest shareholder with about 30% voting interest and 13.7% economic interest, Greg Abel has assumed the CEO role. Abel recently authored his first shareholder letter.
Known as the "Woodstock for Capitalists," the annual event has drawn crowds for decades. Buffett wrote letters for every year between 1965 and 2024 ahead of this gathering.
According to the meeting schedule, Buffett will attend this year but is not set to speak. This marks the first time the 95-year-old will participate without addressing shareholders.
Investing for 80 years, Buffett has consistently bet on American dynamism. He stated that despite citizens' penchant for self-doubt, he has yet to see a time when betting against America made sense.
