As announced by the Government, speaking about the importance of this historical event, Bečić said that Martinići and Krusi were the military triumphs of Saint Peter of Cetinje, but that their deeper value lies in what preceded them: the gathering of Montenegrin nahijas, tribes and people from the mountains around a common goal.
On the occasion of the 230th anniversary of the battle, wreaths were laid at the memorial, and officials said that the Crosses remain a symbol of freedom and unity.
