Bear Attacks 77-Year-Old Woman in Iwate, Injured (Kyodo News)

At around 5:55 a.m. on the 26th, an unemployed woman (77) who lived in front of the entrance to a house in Ekari, Kuzumaki Town, Iwate Prefecture, was attacked by a bear, suffering cuts to her head and face. She was taken to hospital, but her life is not in danger. According to Iwate Police Station, the woman was attacked by a bear from behind shortly after returning home from a nearby field.
