BCRP Keeps Interest Rate at 4.25% in September Despite Inflation Above Target Range

The BCRP reported that monthly inflation in August was 0.07 % and non-food and energy inflation was 0.02 %.
The Central Bank decided not to vary its reference rate, which it has maintained for more than a year. Inflation expectations to 12 months rose slightly in August, while the entity warned risks for the El Niño Phenomenon and geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
During 2025, the issuing institute made three cuts to the key rate, in January, May and September, of 25 basis points in each case. This year, it has not made any movement.
Central Reserve Bank of Peru said that in annual terms, inflation rose from 4.1% in July to 4.4% in August, "mainly because of a base effect associated with negative monthly inflation recorded in August last year."
