Bald Range Wildfire Near Summerland Downgraded, Now Considered 'Being Held'
BCWS says the fire will stay within its current perimeter as crews continue mop-up and patrol work with 378 firefighters and 10 helicopters on scene.

- As one of the most destructive fires in British Columbia this season, the blaze destroyed or damaged about 150 structures and forced the evacuation of about 20,000 residents in Summerland and surrounding communities.
- Fire suppression efforts continue with 378 wildland firefighters, including 100 Mexican wildland firefighters, alongside 10 helicopters and 57 pieces of heavy equipment working on scene.
- Summerland Mayor Doug Holmes noted the community now faces concerns regarding its damaged watershed, saying, "We're just starting to really see the magnitude of it."
- Federal Minister of Emergency Management Eleanor Olszewski visited the area on Friday as Holmes seeks answers regarding what relief the community can expect for recovery.
