Nigella Lawson Gives Update on Future as She Admits She Is 'a Bit Nervous'
Lawson said she is excited but nervous as she joins the show, which drew 7.26 million viewers for its 2025 series opener.
On Tuesday, cookbook author Nigella Lawson shared a teaser from the Bake Off tent, confirming her new role as a judge on The Great British Bake Off. She admitted she is "a bit nervous" about the appointment.
Dame Prue Leith, 86, stepped down earlier this year from the Channel 4 show she joined in 2017, creating the vacancy Lawson, 66, now fills as the new judge.
Celebrity fans including Alan Carr and Queer Eye star Tan France shared excitement, while viewers expressed hopes for Lawson's signature "smutty innuendoes" and her iconic "mee-cro-wah-vay" pronunciation from her BBC show.
Viewing figures for the Channel 4 show struggled since 2020 but rose to 7.26 million for the 2025 series premiere, and executives hope Lawson can continue this revival.
Filming for the new series is complete and premieres next month, with Lawson saying she is "very excited and extremely happy" to join the cast alongside Paul Hollywood, Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding.
