Badenoch Vows to End Inheritance Tax on Family Homes
She said the move would cut the number of families paying inheritance tax by more than half and help keep more wealth in family homes.
On Wednesday, Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch pledged to abolish inheritance tax on family homes during her keynote speech in Birmingham, calling the election a "battle for the soul of the nation."
Badenoch further promised couples could leave an additional £1 million tax-free, reducing families paying inheritance tax by more than half, with her long-term "ambition" to abolish the tax entirely when affordable.
Alongside tax cuts, the Tories announced a "tough love" approach to youth employment, halving employer national insurance for those aged 21 to 24, and pledged to invest £10 billion over 10 years in the Britannia Shield.
Attacking the Labour Government as "addicted to welfare," Badenoch vowed to slash benefits and ruled out any pact with Nigel Farage's Reform party, dismissing defections as an "export boom of drama queens."
Reviving the economy remains the "central organising principle" for the Conservative Party, Badenoch stated; seeking to reverse the Tories' fortunes after their 2024 electoral rout, she insisted she was "not someone who gets written off.
