The Landes prefecture, a department renowned for its poultry and the main French producer of fatty ducks, announced on Friday 12 December a outbreak of avian influenza in a turkey and chicken farm.
Avian influenza affects the Landes again. An outbreak has been confirmed in Harm, resulting in the slaughter of 16 500 poultry. A 10-kilometre surveillance zone is set up.
The 6,000 turkeys and 10,500 chickens of the farm concerned, located in Herm north of Dax, will be slaughtered, says the prefecture in a press release.
