Marvel Makes Surprise 'Avengers: Endgame' Move Ahead of 'Doomsday'
The re-release will include never-before-seen footage and help launch a new premium large-format theater certification.
On Thursday at CinemaCon, The Walt Disney Studios announced a September theatrical re-release for Endgame featuring new footage, alongside launching "Infinity Vision," a new certification for premium large format theaters.
Infinity Vision represents a shared effort to signify auditoriums offering "the biggest, brightest and most immersive cinematic experiences," said Andrew Cripps, head of theatrical distribution for The Walt Disney Studios.
Directors Joe Russo and Anthony Russo confirmed the 3-hour-long movie will include never-before-seen footage to build momentum for the upcoming Doomsday release.
Doomsday will not release in Imax in the U.S. due to a clash with Dune: Part Three, which secures the format for an exclusive three-week launch period.
Audiences will be able to seek out Infinity Vision-certified screens for both the September Endgame re-release and Doomsday in December, seeing films "on the grandest possible scale, exactly as intended," Disney said.
