Australian Army Soldier Dies and Five Others Injured During Training Exercise, ABC News Says
Five other soldiers were injured and next of kin have been notified, the Defence Department said.
On Monday, an Australian Army soldier died during a training exercise at the Mount Bundey Training Area in the Northern Territory. The Australian Defence Force confirmed five other soldiers were injured in the vehicle rollover.
A defence spokesman confirmed that next of kin have been notified. The ADF requested that the privacy of defence members and their families be respected as the Defence Department provides further updates.
The incident occurred during a training exercise at the Northern Territory facility. Defence will provide further details regarding the event at a later time, according to the force.
This death follows Warrant Officer Class Two Lachlan Muddle's death at Jervis Bay Airfield five months ago and the 2024 death of Lance Corporal Jack Fitzgibbon, son of former Defence Minister Joel Fitzgibbon, at RAAF Base Richmond.
Defence Minister Richard Marles previously launched investigations into training safety following past fatal incidents, including pausing all ADF parachute operations to refine protocols.
