Audit Finds Thousands of Afghan Resettlers Missing from Records in UK

Summary
Officials have lost track of more than 7,000 Afghans resettled in Britain by the Government, the National Audit Office (NAO) has said. The watchdog said that of the 38,000 nationals from Afghanistan moved to the UK over the past five years, the whereabouts of almost one in five was unknown. The NAO said: “This includes people who arranged their own accommodation immediately on arrival or who left hotels without providing a forwarding address.”
