Audi Unveils Q9, Its Biggest SUV yet: Price, Specs, Features, Here's Everything to Know
Audi unveiled the 2027 Q9 and SQ9 as new flagship full-size SUVs, with both models arriving in U.S. showrooms late this year to challenge the BMW X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS-class.
Responding to dealer requests in North America, Audi CEO Gernot Döllner confirmed a full-size SUV "was the loudest request from our dealers." The models aim to recapture market share as SUV sales shrink.
The 2027 Q9 features a 429-horsepower turbocharged V-6 delivering 4.9-second 0-60 times, while the SQ9 packs a 591-horsepower twin-turbo V-8 for 3.8-second acceleration. Pricing starts at $89,095 and $119,395 respectively.
With the Q9, Audi introduces Adaptive Cruise Assist Plus, enabling hands-free steering at up to 85 mph on select highways. Digital Matrix LED headlights create a "shadow" around oncoming traffic, eliminating glare.
In a reversal of typical Audi practice, sales begin in North America first, with production sourced from the Bratislava plant that also manufactures the Q7. This positions the U.S. as the flagship market.
