Sabrina Kahler's Body Was Never Found, but Now a Man Is Charged with Her Murder 24 Years Later

- Heck drove Kahler to Eagley Park on June 24, 2002, where he confronted his former girlfriend before taking her to a wooded area near Lake Erie. Authorities dispute Heck's past claims that he dropped her at a theater, asserting she never left the area alive.
- Grand jury testimony from previously reluctant witnesses provided evidence needed to file charges, including a fisherman who reported hearing a "blood-curdling scream" and a cellmate who testified Heck admitted to the killing, according to the Attorney General's Office.
- Erie County District Attorney Elizabeth Hirz said, "This case has represented more than an unsolved homicide," after police arrested Heck at his Indiana home late Monday night. Kahler's remains have not been recovered.
- Heck remains in custody in Indiana awaiting transfer to Erie County. Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday said, "To Sabrina's family, I hope this arrest brings them some sense of justice and solace," noting the suspect is presumed innocent.
