NWS: 9 Tornadoes Touched Down in Louisiana During Tropical Storm Arthur
The updated count includes three additional tornadoes in Houma and one near Slidell as survey teams continue checking damage.
On Saturday, the National Weather Service confirmed seven tornadoes touched down in southeast Louisiana on Thursday, June 18, 2026, as remnants of Tropical Storm Arthur crossed the region.
Tropical Storm Arthur drenched southeast Louisiana earlier in the week, creating severe weather conditions that triggered flash flooding and significant tornado risks across affected areas.
Tornadoes struck Houma, Avondale, Bridge City, New Orleans, Eden Isles, and Arabi, with an EF1 tornado in Eden Isles reaching peak winds of 105 mph.
Residents in Arabi, Avondale, and Houma are rebuilding after widespread destruction, while volunteers and the United Way provide cleanup assistance and meals to impacted communities.
The National Weather Service will continue analyzing damage near Eden Isles, with meteorologists potentially confirming additional tornadoes next week as survey work proceeds.
