Tornadoes Kill 3 in the Midwest, Plains as Storm Threat Shifts East

On Sunday, a regional tornado outbreak across the Midwest killed two people in rural Jefferson County, Illinois, according to Sheriff Jeff Bullard, as nearly three dozen tornado reports were logged by the Storm Prediction Center.
Heat and humidity returned Sunday afternoon, causing thunderstorms to evolve into rotating supercells capable of producing tornadoes, just four days after the previous storm system leveled buildings across the region.
