Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar announced on Monday that June 22, 2026, will go down in Hungarian history as D-Day, when the country embarked on the path of defeating the Hungarian Cosa Nostra. Magyar called the former ruling Fidesz party of former Prime Minister Viktor Orbán a mafia.

A comprehensive campaign called Operation Cleansing Fire is being launched to eliminate “the political and economic mafia.” The head of state will resign, and a comprehensive constitutional process will begin in September. The mandate of members of parliament would also be limited, with anyone being able to serve for 12 years, three terms.
