PepsiCo Bullish on India, Targets Top-10 Global Market Status
The new Nalbari facility will create 700 jobs and support more than 5,000 farmers as PepsiCo expands its supply chain network.
- On Thursday, PepsiCo inaugurated its fifth food manufacturing plant in Nalbari, Assam, with an investment of Rs 778 crore, reinforcing its "In India, For India" commitment.
- To strengthen its presence in the Northeast, PepsiCo expanded operations despite historical challenges with local potato quality, planning to reach 80,000 smallholder farmers through 2,200 agri-entrepreneurs.
- The Nalbari plant created 700 direct and indirect employment opportunities, with PepsiCo committing to ensure more than 75% of these roles are held by women.
- PepsiCo India & South Asia CEO Jagrut Kotecha said the company remains "very bullish" on India, targeting a top 10 global market position amid low per capita consumption.
- Following an earlier facility opening in Ujjain, PepsiCo is setting up a plant in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, with plans to invest around Rs 5,700 crore by 2030.
