Asian Games 2026: Indian women's compound archery team sets gold medal clash with China
The trio scored 238 points and beat China 238-234 to defend their title, matching South Korea’s 2014 world record.
On Wednesday, the Indian women's compound archery team of Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Chikitha Taniparthi, and Prithika Pradeep defeated China 238-234 at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, securing gold with a world-record-equalling score.
This victory marks a successful title defense for India, which has reached the podium in every women's compound team archery event since 2014, cementing the nation's status as a regional powerhouse.
Earlier on Wednesday, the trio secured their final berth by edging out South Korea 235-233 in a tense semifinal, a narrow victory that tested the team's composure before the gold-medal clash.
In a separate triumph, Taniparthi and Sahil Jadhav clinched the compound mixed team gold by defeating South Korea 158-157 in a shoot-off, earning India a quota place for the LA 2028 Olympics.
The archers' technical precision followed a shift in leadership under former American World No. 1 coach Dave Cousins, who guided the team throughout 2026 after they spent the early part of the year without a coach.
