Asda apologises to shoppers as potential health risk sparks UK recall
Asda said no safety incidents have been reported and is telling customers to stop using the bag and return it for a refund.
Asda is recalling the Front Pocket XBody Bag, product code 1100265415001, because it may contain phthalates exceeding permitted limits.
Certain phthalates, including DEHP, are subject to regulatory restrictions because prolonged exposure above specified limits may pose potential health risks and possibly cause damage to the reproductive system.
At the time of shipment, the bag passed all safety tests; however, subsequent testing identified the issue regarding phthalate limits.
Asda said there have been no safety incidents currently reported but is recalling the bag as a "precautionary measure." Shoppers should return it to any store for a full refund or contact Asda Customer Relations on 0330 053 0111.
Tesco has also recalled its Home Glass Latte Mug due to a "manufacturing issue" that may cause breakage during "normal use", highlighting ongoing safety oversight across major retailers.
