Armenian community in San Francisco gathers to commemorate genocide
The inaugural event used billboards, exhibits and performances to teach attendees about the genocide and organizers hope it becomes an annual tradition.
It was a day of remembrance in San Francisco on Sunday, as community members gathered to honor the lives lost in the Armenian genocide. The event took place at the base of the cross on top of the city’s highest peak, Mount Davidson. 38 Armenian groups came together to purchase the cross 11 years ago, and have been holding this event ever since.
