Police seize bag of guns found discarded in Glasgow street
Armed officers removed the weapons and kept a police presence in the area while detectives investigate how the bag was left there.
On Tuesday, May 5, 2026, Police Scotland recovered firearms from a discarded bag discovered on Tynecastle Street in the Springboig area of Glasgow at approximately 8:55 pm.
Armed officers rushed to the location following the report, securing the area immediately upon arrival to ensure the safe removal of weapons from the residential street.
Police confirmed the firearms have been safely recovered; however, inquiries into how the bag came to be on Tynecastle Street remain ongoing to establish full circumstances.
Multiple police vehicles remain at the scene as officers maintain a visible presence in the area, with residents encouraged to approach them if they have concerns.
Detectives have not yet determined whether the discovery is connected to Operation Portalegde, the policing initiative established to address gang turf wars across Scotland.
